Terms of use
1. What MacroMatrix is
MacroMatrix is a free food diary by VanoWeb. You log what you eat and see your energy, macros, vitamins and minerals compared with general reference values. By creating an account, you accept these terms and the privacy policy.
2. Not medical advice
The app gives information, not medical or dietary advice. The targets are general EFSA reference values for healthy adults and do not apply to children, during pregnancy or breastfeeding, or with a medical condition. Talk to your doctor or dietitian before you make big changes to your diet or supplements.
3. Accuracy of the data
Nutrition values come from public databases (ANSES-CIQUAL, Livsmedelsverket, Matvaretabellen, USDA) and from Open Food Facts, which is filled in by its users. Additive risk levels are based on EFSA and ANSES assessments as recorded in Open Food Facts. Some values are estimated and marked with ≈. We do our best, but cannot guarantee that all values are correct or complete. Allergy warnings are a help, not a guarantee: if you have an allergy, always check the label.
4. Your account
- You must be 18 or older.
- You use an email address that is yours and keep your password secret.
- You are responsible for what happens with your account.
- You can delete your account at any time in the app (Profile → Settings → Delete account).
5. Fair use
Do not use the app to disrupt the service, get around security, view other people's data or query the app automatically and in bulk. In case of abuse we can block or delete an account.
6. What you share with friends
Your name, profile photo or avatar and the titles of challenges you create can be seen by friends and by other people in the same challenge. Do not use names, photos or challenge titles that contain:
- hate or discrimination, for example based on origin, religion, gender, sexual orientation or disability;
- harassment, threats or bullying;
- nudity or sexual content;
- impersonation of someone else, or a name or photo that misleads people about who you are;
- spam or advertising.
Names and challenge titles with clearly offensive words are refused by the app. You can report or block someone from the friends list, a battle or a challenge. We look at every report. We may remove content that breaks these rules, and suspend or close the account of whoever posted it, without warning for serious or repeated cases.
7. Supporter subscription (optional)
Almost everything in MacroMatrix is free. Supporter is an optional subscription that adds extras you don't need to use the app, such as avatar frames, extra colours, more photo and label scans per day, recipe import and early access to new features. It mainly helps pay for the servers and the AI scans.
You buy Supporter through Google Play. The subscription renews automatically every month or year at the price shown before you confirm, until you cancel it. You can cancel at any time in Google Play under Payments & subscriptions; you keep Supporter until the end of the period you paid for. Refunds follow Google Play's refund policy. Deleting your MacroMatrix account does not cancel a Google Play subscription, so cancel it there as well. If we ever change what Supporter includes or what it costs, we tell you in advance, and a price change only applies from your next period after you agree in Google Play.
8. Availability and changes
The free app is provided as is. We try to keep it available, but cannot promise uninterrupted operation. We may change features or stop the service; in that case we will let you know in time, so you can export your data.
9. Liability
To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for damage caused by using the app or by incorrect nutrition values. Nothing in these terms limits the rights you have as a consumer under the law.
10. Intellectual property and sources
The app and the website belong to VanoWeb. The nutrition data stays under the license of its source (see sources). Branded products and additive data from Open Food Facts fall under the Open Database License (ODbL).
11. Changes to these terms
If we change these terms, you will see it in the date at the top. For important changes, we will let you know in the app.
